Seven Seas is pleased to announce that as part of our sustainability efforts, we have shifted to the installation and use of approved water filtration systems in our Dubai facility. By doing so we will eliminate the equivalent use of more than half a million 500ml plastic water bottles per year. A great reduction and a step towards reducing our carbon footprint!
It’s well-known that advanced filtration systems used by bottle-less water coolers provide cleaner, purer water than plastic water bottles. In fact, it’s much safer to drink water from a filtration system than it is to consume plastic bottled water.
Most of us know the adage “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”; the “reduce” comes first for a reason. While both reusing and recycling are good ways to be environmentally conscious, reducing is the key to helping the environment as it stops waste before it occurs. Water filters help us to reduce using single-use items like plastic bottles, mitigate wear and tear on appliances, and curtail fossil fuel consumption.
In addition to this plastic is made from fossil fuels oil and natural gas. The less plastic we need to produce, the less reliant we are on fossil fuels. This helps alleviate our carbon footprint and reduce harmful byproducts that come from the plastic manufacturing process.
One of the most direct and obvious benefits of using a water filter is the reduction or elimination of single-use plastic water bottles. Plastic waste has been shown to be harmful to the environment and our health. Plastic waste does not decompose quickly. Instead, it breaks down into dangerous microplastic particles. Microplastics are difficult to track and can easily end up in our water and food.
